In My Opinion - Rex Evilsizor

 Do you presently have your own authority or, are you going to apply for your own authority?  Applying for the incorrect authority can eventually present untold problems and expense.  Do you know the best authority to have for 2007-2008? 

 DO YOU KNOW: 

• the difference between “common” and “contract” motor carrier authority?
• you can start a trucking company without ever owning any trucks?
• you can obtain a copy of the USDOT regulations, updated daily, for free?
• the difference between “broker” and “freight” forwarder?
• when you need an MC and/or  USDOT numbers?
• when you need a SCAC, KYU, TXDOT, UCRA, HHG, MCS-150, BOC-3, BMC-91x, BMC-34, BMC-84, and BMC-85?
• the letters above are acronyms, and do you know what the letters stand for?
• there are two (2) freight forwarder authorities?
• there are two (2) freight broker authorities?
• there are two (2) types of motor carrier authorities and within the two types there are sixteen (16) variations?
• the real difference between “interstate” and “intrastate”?
• the real meaning of “fuel surcharge” became void January 1, 1996?

More individuals today are obtaining more than one authority to maximize their revenues and to serve their customers more efficiently; ie, carriers are adding broker and brokers are adding motor carrier.  You don’t need to ever own any trucks to get motor carrier authority.
